STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH...

BROKEN HEART SYNDROME SELLS OUT @ TIFF!

The TIFF box office opened up yesterday to a mad frenzy, as usual. Although we were expecting both screenings to eventually sell out, we were shocked to learn that both Broken Heart Syndrome screenings sold out with in an hour or two! We sincerely thank you all for your enthusiastic support for the film, and we can't wait for the world premiere at the TIFF Bell Lightbox next Monday, September 10th.

If you were unable to get tickets for either show, you can check again at 7 a.m. on the day of the screenings (they sometimes release extras) or you can try the rush line at the theatre.

Broken Heart Syndrome will be screening as part of Short Cuts Canada: Programme #3, along with 7 other films (which we can hardly wait to see). Hope to see you there!

Broken Heart Syndrome to Premiere at TIFF 2012

It was announced last week that Broken Heart Syndrome will be having it's world premeire at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in Spetember. TIFF is known to be one of the top film festivals in the world, and Variety Magazine has reported that "the Festival is second only to Cannes in terms of high-profile pics, stars and market activity."

In February Canova Media went into production on the short film, in collaboration with Inflo Films. The film follows Russ, who after a traumatic break up, is diagnosed with a rare disease known as Broken Heart Syndrome (BHS) and desperately tries to find a cure that will mend his broken heart before it’s too late.

The short is written and directed by Toronto native, Dusty Mancinelli, and is jointly produced by Mancinelli and Harry Cherniak of Inflo Films, and Brent Martin of Canova Media. Lead roles are played by Jim Annan (Russ), and Joanna Douglas (Carol).

Stay tuned for TIFF screening dates, and more information on Broken Heart Syndrome as it kicks off it's festival life in Toronto this fall!

We are also excited to announce that we have pre-sold Broken Heart Syndrome to CBC's Canadian Reflections program, where the short will have it's Canadian television premiere.

"My Grandfather's Voice" - FULL MOVIE ONLINE FOR THE FIRST TIME

Hello Friends,

I am happy to announce that I am posting the entire version of MY GRANDFATHER'S VOICE online for the very first time. After directing this documentary in 2006, the film went on to win the Excellence in Documentary award at Cinesiege (Toronto), and the Best Short Documentary award at the Winnipeg International Film Festival. The film also screened at the Calgary Jewish Film Festival, and the Okanagan International Film Festival.

MY GRANDFATHER'S VOICE chronicles my personal exploration into the life of my Grandfather, Ted Soskin, a man I never knew. Ted was a pioneer in the Canadian radio industry, with a career spanning almost fifty years. His legacy lives on in the stockpiles of recordings he left behind for me to discover twenty-one years after his death.

I hope you enjoy the film, and don’t hesitate to pass it along to your friends.

All the Best,

Brent
